When do Kent Test results come out?
For September 2027 entry, results are sent on Thursday 15 October 2026: by email after 4pm if you gave an email address when you registered, otherwise by first class post that day.
Results and the headteacher assessment
- Parents who registered online can also see their child’s assessment and scores by logging back into their online account after 5pm on results day.
- If a posted result has not arrived, you can ask your child’s primary school for the scores the day after results go out.
- Before results are sent, a child’s primary school headteacher can refer an assessment they disagree with to the Headteacher Assessment panel of local headteachers, which looks at further evidence such as the child’s work and the writing task.
- The Headteacher Assessment panel changes an assessment only if it is confident that the child will be well placed in a grammar school.
- Kent County Council advises taking questions about the result to your child’s primary school first. Neither the school nor the council’s admissions team can change the decision, but they can explain what it means and how it was reached.
- You cannot appeal against the Kent Test assessment itself. You can still name a grammar school if your child was not assessed suitable: the application is refused on offer day, and you then have the right to appeal for a place.
Questions parents ask
My child was not assessed suitable for grammar school. What can we do?
You cannot appeal against the Kent Test result itself. You can still name a grammar school on your application: it will be refused on offer day, and you then have the right to appeal for a place to an independent panel. Before results are sent, a primary school headteacher can also refer a child to the Headteacher Assessment panel.
